Global Leadership Project

Looking forward at the phenomenon of global leadership

Focus
How can leadership become a more potent force for good by integrating improved global foresight during unprecedented change? The Global Leadership Project is looking at what is…and assessing the ‘so what…’ of the contemporary context; and it is examining what might be, assessing the ‘what ifs’ of enhanced global leadership.

Purpose
The ILA Global Leadership Project is taking responsibility for assessing how successfully the leadership development community is supporting the development of global leadership at this time of uncertainty and accelerating change. Through creating and using trusted space and creating opportunities for the global community to improve the field of leadership studies, the ILA will deliver resources and not prescriptions, a set of insights and foresights for decision-makers of tomorrow.

The Work
We have committed to examining the phenomenon of leadership; leadership that is observed to exist or happen, especially leadership whose characteristics and consequences are in question. The ILA Global Leadership Project is focusing on behaviours, models, and cultures of leadership, though with more interest in all stakeholders within leadership than on leaders themselves. We want to further develop understanding and expand resources that can enhance better global leadership.

Our Process
We will include diverse perspectives and work inclusively at a variety of levels. We have convened a disparate gathering of global influencers, practitioners and scholars who have joined a series of formative discussions. An editorial team is collecting their thoughts and opening review from ILA members, crafting a Paper that will identify and develop resources for global leadership in the future.
