In this episode, Dan and Lauren sit down with Dr. Nathan Eva, Associate Professor, Fulbright Scholar, and co-Director of Engagement for the Department of Management at the Monash University Business School, in Melbourne, Australia. Nathan shares strategies for researchers from post-doc to mid-career scholars on how to determine your researcher identity, craft a meaningful research agenda, and identify a community of scholars to co-author publications.
Nathan is the co-chair of ILA’s 2023 Leadership Education Academy, a 3.5-day immersive training program designed by leadership educators for leadership educators.
About Dr. Nathan Eva
Nathan Eva, Ph.D. (he/his) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management at the Monash Business School, Kulin Nation, Australia. He was a 2021 Fulbright Scholar. Nathan was awarded the 2016 and 2013 Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence and nominated for Monash University’s 2017 and 2016 Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence for his local and international leadership development units. Nathan’s research on servant leadership and leadership development has appeared in leading international outlets such as The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Human Resource Management. He is a board member of the Network of Leadership Scholars, the Incoming Chair of the Leadership Scholarship member community for ILA, a Senior Editor for Management and Organization Review and an editorial board member of The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, and Group and Organization Management.
About the Hosts
Lauren Bullock is an Assistant Professor of Instruction at Temple University, where she teaches leadership development and public relations courses. Before transitioning to full-time faculty, Lauren led the university’s leadership development co-curricular programs for six years.
Before joining Temple in 2008, Lauren worked in athletic administration at Florida State University and the University of Texas at Austin. Currently, Lauren is writing her dissertation in leadership and change management at Antioch University. Her research interests include faculty-student interaction, generational theory in higher education, purpose and meaningful work, and groups and team dynamics. She works with Dan to set project goals, research and write episode scripts and descriptions, contact guests, craft social media content and strategy.
Dan Jenkins is Professor of Leadership & Organizational Studies at the University of Southern Maine. He received his doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration from the University of South Florida.
Dan has published more than 40 articles and book chapters on leadership education and is the co-author of The Role of Leadership Educators: Transforming Learning. As an award-winning international speaker and facilitator, Dan has engaged thousands of leadership educators, students, and professionals on topics such as leadership pedagogy, followership, and curriculum and course design. Dan is also a past Chair of the ILA Leadership Education MIG, Co-Founder of the ILA Leadership Education Academy, Co-Host of The Leadership Educator Podcast, Vice-Chair of the Collegiate Leadership Competition, and Co-Lead of the Association of Leadership Educators Teaching & Pedagogy/Andragogy Focus Area Network.
