Think about when you first became “the boss” in your life. What was it like? One of the hardest transitions in any leader’s career is the one from a high-potential individual contributor or professional to his or her first formal leadership position. Though they are an important part of any organization’s benchstrength, many professionals receive no training or development during this pivotal transition.

In this webinar, you will learn practical, actionable research-based tips and advice from William Gentry the author of the highly acclaimed book, Be the Boss Everyone Wants to Work For: A Guide for New Leaders. As someone who researches and trains new leaders, and is one himself, Gentry will share the latest science and practice behind becoming the boss everyone wants to work for. Whether you are brand new to leadership, someone who aspires to be in a leadership position one day, a person who has been in a leadership position for a while and wants to keep developing to be an effective leader, or you are in the business with passion around designing and implementing initiatives to help leaders develop, this session is for you.

Learning Outcomes

  • The six areas first-time managers and new leaders must consider to be successful in their new leadership role: mindset, skill set, relationships, do-it-all attitude, perspective, and focus.
  • Practical, actionable, on-the-job tips and advice for first-time managers and new leaders on the frontline to use, to be the boss everyone wants to work for, and what you can do to help first-time managers who are first-level, frontline supervisors and leaders.
