In this webinar, ILA Member Randal J. Thompson discusses her forthcoming book Reimagining Leadership on the Commons: Shifting the Paradigm for a More Ethical, Equitable and Just World – part of ILA’s Building Leadership Bridges series.

The commons has become an important contemporary phenomenon as individuals have increasingly desired to join together to self-organize and self-govern resources outside the state and the private sector. Commons are based on an ethic of care, responsibility, mutualism, autonomy, and self-provisioning and were extremely important vehicles for meeting community needs during the pandemic. In our forthcoming 2021 book Reimagining Leadership on the Commons: Shifting the Paradigm for a More Ethical, Equitable and Just World, authors explore both the ethical foundations of the commons and the approaches most suitable for leading the commons. Valuable lessons can be derived from leadership on the commons for government, corporations, and NGOs who are devoted to more humanistic and environmentally responsible leadership. This presentation will share findings of the authors and provide take-aways for all of us working together to make the world more humane.
