Col. Matt Horner, Lt. Col. Matt Orlowsky, Dr. Daphne DePorres, and Dr. Dave Levy from the United States Air Force Academy discuss Lens X, an initiative to reframe organizational interactions in a way that will allow USAF officers to better adhere to the simple directive: “Take care of your people.”
Colonel Matt Horner, Ph.D., is the Director of Staff of the Dean of Faculty and was recently nominated for the role of Permanent Professor for Character and Leadership Development at USAFA.
Lt Col Matt Orlowsky, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Management and teaches courses on organizational dynamics and leadership. He is a graduate of USAFA and served as a force support officer on active duty.
Daphne DePorres, Ed.D., is an assistant professor at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), where she teaches organizational behavior and organizational development, as well as a management consulting capstone course.
Dr. Dave Levy is a Professor of Management at USAFA and teaches courses on leadership, power, organization development, and change. He is a USAFA graduate and served as a security forces officer on active duty. He is the author of several books, including The 52nd Floor: Thinking Deeply About Leadership; Attitudes Aren’t Free: Thinking Deeply About Diversity in the US Armed Forces; Echoes of Mind: Thinking Deeply About Humanship; Evolution of Government Policy Towards Homosexuality in the US Military; and The Line: A Very Short, Short Story.

Scott J. Allen, Ph.D., is an award-winning educator passionate about working with people at all levels and across industries. He spent more than 20 years as a professor of management, and his areas of expertise include leadership, leader development, the future of work, and executive communication. He is the founder and Principal at S & J Allen, LLC and formerly the Robert M. Ginn Institute Professor for Leadership & Social Responsibility at John Carroll University.
Scott has published more than 60 book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles. He is the co-author of The Little Book of Leadership Development: 50 Ways to Bring Out the Leader in Every Employee; Emotionally Intelligent Leadership: A Guide for College Students; Captovation: Online Presentations by Design; and the textbook Discovering Leadership: Designing Your Success (2023).
