Defining the top leadership challenges and opportunities for the next 25 years is no easy task and cannot be accomplished by a single individual. We need collective wisdom and experience.
Following the summit, participants will be invited to contribute to a number of journal special issues, attend follow-up sessions at the ILA Global Conference in November, and serve as podcast guests to amplify the work done at the summit.

Dr. Crystal L. Hoyt is professor of leadership studies and psychology and the Colonel Leo K. & Gaylee Thorsness Endowed Chair in Ethical Leadership at the University of Richmond. Her scholarship generally resides at the intersection of human belief systems (e.g., mindsets, stereotypes, and ideologies) and social justice and well-being. Her research has implications for a host of fundamental social issues, such as addressing ethical failures in leadership, tackling intergroup bias and discrimination, bridging the gaps in leadership and educational achievement, and ensuring that social policies and interventions regarding vital social issues are informed and intentional. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and appears in journals, such as Psychological Science, Psychological Bulletin, Journal of Experimental and Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and Leadership Quarterly. She has published over 80 journal articles and book chapters and has co-edited three books. She has served as associate editor at Journal of Experimental Psychology: General and as a member of the editorial board for Leadership Quarterly and Sex Roles. Her research and writing have been featured in news outlets, including the New York Times, Washington Post, US News and World Report, Boston Globe, Today Show, and NPR’s Tell Me More, among others.
Dr. Stefanie K. Johnson is an associate professor of Organizational Leadership and Information Analytics. She has held the Andrea and Michael Leeds Research Fellowship, served as the Director of the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative, and was a 2020 RIO Fellow. She is a fellow in the Society of Industrial Organizational Psychologists (SIOP) and the American Psychological Society (APS). She has published 60 journal articles and book chapters in outlets Journal of Applied Psychology and The Academy of Management Journal and has received $3,800,000 in external grant funding. Dr. Johnson is member of the MG 100 Coaches, was selected for the 2020 Thinkers50 Radar List, and is the author of the Wall Street Journal National Bestseller: Inclusify: Harnessing the power of uniqueness and belonging to build innovative teams (pub. Harper Collins). She has presented her work at over 170 meetings around the world including at the White House for a 2016 summit on diversity in corporate America. Media outlets featuring Stefanie’s work include: The Economist, Newsweek, Time, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, HuffPost, Washington Post, Quartz, Discover, CNN, ABC, NBC, CNBC. She has appeared on Fox, ABC, NBC, ESPN, CNN, and CNN International.
Dr. Susan Elaine Murphy is Chair in Leadership Development at the University of Edinburgh Business School. She was formerly Director of the School of Strategic Leadership Studies at James Madison University and Professor of Leadership Studies. She has published numerous articles and book chapters on leadership, leadership development, and mentoring. Her work has been published in Academy of Management Executive (currently Academy of Management Perspectives), Leadership Quarterly, Organizational Behaviour and Human Decision Making, Journal of Vocational Behaviour, Journal of Business and Psychology, and the Journal of Applied Psychology. Her most recent edited volume with Rebecca Reichard is Early Development and Leadership: Building the Next Generation of Leaders and an authored book, Power Mentoring: How Successful Mentors and Protégés Make the Most of Their Relationships, with Ellen Ensher. She also serves on the editorial board of The Leadership Quarterly.
Ronald E. Riggio, Ph.D. is the Henry R. Kravis Professor of Leadership and Organizational Psychology and former Director of the Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont McKenna College. Dr. Riggio is a leadership scholar with more than two dozen authored or edited books and more than 150 articles/book chapters. His research interests are in leadership, organizational communication, assessment centers, nonverbal communication and social competence. He is part of the Fullerton Longitudinal Study, examining leadership development across the lifespan (from 1 year of age and through middle adulthood). Besides research on leadership development, he has been actively involved in training young (and not so young) leaders. He has been a Psychology Today blogger for more than a decade. His most recent books are: Leadership & Virtues (co-edited with Toby Newstead); Daily Leadership Development: 365 Steps to Becoming a Better Leader (2020) and Inclusive Leadership (2021; co-edited with Bernardo Ferdman and Jeanine Prime).
