ILA President Cynthia Cherrey and Board Chair Mike Hardy join Maureen to imagine what is possible for global leaders focused on global challenges and look back at the outcomes from ILA’s 2021 global conference, which took place in Geneva Switzerland followed by several days of online conferencing. Geneva is the city with the largest number of multi-lateral organizations in the world and Switzerland is ranked #1 as the most innovative economy in the world. This locale was perfect to convene and create the space for leaders to grapple with the complex challenges they face. The theme for the 2021 conference was Reimagining Leadership and ILA was challenged to reimagine how to implement the conference in the new Covid-era. In response, ILA developed the HighFlex conference model and realized a successful conference that utilized the best of both locations.
About Dr. Mike Hardy
Professor Mike Hardy, CMG OBE FRSA, is Founding Director of the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University, UK. After a distinguished career, he returned to the academic world in 2011 as Professor of Intercultural Relations at Coventry University. Mike is active with UNESCO and the UN Alliance of Civilizations he is currently lead advisor to the World Forum for Intercultural Dialogue in Baku, the World Peace Forum in Indonesia and directs the RISING Global Peace Forum at Coventry. Professor Hardy has been twice honoured, awarded the OBE in 2001 for his peacebuilding work in the Middle East, and appointed a Companion of Honour of St Michael and St George in the Queens Birthday Honours, June 2010, for his work internationally in Intercultural Dialogue. Mike is a trustee of The Faith and Belief Forum the leading interfaith charity in the UK and Board Chair of the US-based International Leadership Association.
About Dr. Cynthia Cherrey
Cynthia Cherrey, President and CEO of the International Leadership Association ILA, a global network of leadership scholars, educators, and practitioners. Previously, Cynthia served as Vice President and Lecturer in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. She publishes in the areas of leadership, organizational development, and higher education including coauthoring Systemic Leadership: Enriching the Meaning of our Work, coediting ILAs Building Leadership Bridges book series, and her most recent publication is Women and Leadership around the World coeditor. She is a Fellow at the World Business Academy and a recipient of a J.W. Fulbright Scholarship. Cynthia’s interests and research explore new ways to live, work, and lead in a knowledge driven, interdependent, global society. She consults and speaks to for-profit and nonprofit organizations around the world on leadership and organizational change

A regular contributor to Forbes.com, Metcalf has authored an award-winning book series on leadership and is the Founder & CEO of the Innovative Leadership Institute.
